A distinctive green tea that reflects its Japanese cousin and is perfect for everyday drinking.
The leaves are long with a crisp dryness and once brewed the tea is lightly yellow in colour with and grassy yet subtly floral scent.
The ideal colour of the sencha beverage is a greenish golden colour. Depending upon the temperature of the water in which it is decocted, the flavour will be different, adding to the appeal of sencha. Sencha (煎茶) is a type of Japanese ryokucha (緑茶, green tea) which is prepared by infusing the processed whole tea leaves in hot water.
Sencha is the most popular tea in Japan.
The flavour depends upon the season and place where it is produced, but shincha, or “new tea” from the first flush of the year, is considered the most delicious.
Fill your cup or teapot to a third with cold water, then top up the remaining two thirds with freshly boiled water. Infuse leaves for three minutes and drink without milk.
